The Grape Method™ - Herplum Reusable Pad Cleaning Guide
A Fresh, Simple Intentional Journey for Cleaning Your Reusable Pads
How to Clean Your Reusable Pads: The Grape Method™
Looking for how to clean your reusable sanitary pads in a way that’s simple, gentle, and effective? The Grape Method™ is Herplum’s step-by-step approach to cleaning your pads using water/ soap, light pressure, and everyday care—no harsh scrubbing, soaking, or complicated routines.
Inspired by the age-old art of winemaking, The Grape Method™ turns pad cleaning into a quick, intuitive, and surprisingly satisfying experience. Just like grapes are gently mashed to release their goodness, this method uses lukewarm/ warm water, light pressure, and massaging to cleanse your pads—no harsh scrubbing, no mess, no overwhelm.
Clean in the shower. Stay fresh. Reuse with confidence.
Step-by-step
The Grape Method™
Step 1: Daily Rinse After Use
A quick refresh goes a long way.
After each use, take your Herplum pad into the shower and give it a rinse. Let water flow through the fabric to release buildup before it has time to settle.
This daily rinse keeps your pads feeling fresh throughout your cycle and makes deeper cleaning effortless later.
Herplum Tip: Think of this as rinsing grapes as you harvest them—simple, daily care that preserves quality.
Step 2: The Gentle Crush (The Grape Moment)
Grounded. Natural. Effortless.
Place your pad at the bottom of the shower or tub and let lukewarm/ warm water run over it. Using your feet, gently press down with slow, controlled movements—never grinding or twisting—allowing everything to release and rinse away naturally.
This is the heart of The Grape Method™: a grounded, full-body press inspired by traditional grape stomping used in winemaking. Calm, steady pressure does the work for you.
Herplum Tip: Think barefoot, intentional, and gentle—just enough pressure to encourage a release.
Step 3: Refresh & Cleanse
Hands-on care. Gentle touch.
Lift the pad and apply a small amount of gentle, fragrance-free soap directly onto the fabric. Using your hands, softly massage the pad—focusing on the center—while lukewarm/ warm water runs through it.
This step adds a mindful reset on your journey, ensuring your pad is fully refreshed without harsh scrubbing or stress on the fabric.
Herplum Tip: Let your hands do the work—slow movements, light pressure, and plenty of water.
Step 4: Final Rinse Flow
Clear. Light. Complete.
Hold the pad under running water and gently squeeze to release any excess water. Continue squeezing and rinsing until the water runs clear.
No overthinking. No scrubbing marathons—just a clean, finished rinse.
Step 5: It's Dry Time
Hang. Air. Even dry.
Use the built-in hook at the end of your Herplum pad to hang it in a well-ventilated space. Hanging allows air to circulate evenly through the fabric, helping it dry thoroughly and maintain its shape.
Proper airflow makes all the difference.
Once dry, your pad is refreshed, balanced, and ready for its next cycle.
Step 6: Store Until Your Next Cycle
Fold. Tuck. Ready.
Once fully dry, fold your pad and use the built-in pocket to neatly wrap and secure it. Store your wrapped pads in a clean, dry space until your next cycle.
Using the pocket keeps pads compact, discreet, and protected—making storage feel intentional and organized.
Step 7: Wash the Full Bunch (Optional but Highly Recommended)
A deeper refresh, once per cycle.
At the end of your cycle, gather the full bunch of pads you’ve used and place them in the washing machine. Wash on a regular wash cycle with cold or warm water and mild detergent to remove any remaining soilage.
Skip fabric softeners or harsh additives—they can impact absorbency over time.
Step 8: Repeat the Finish (Optional but Highly Recommended)
Hang. Store. Reset.
After machine washing, repeat Step 5 by hanging your pads using the built-in hook for an even dry, then follow Step 6 to fold, tuck, and store them using the built-in pocket.
This final reset keeps your pads balanced, refreshed, and ready—cycle after cycle.
